Missing

The painting refers to the people who went missing during the conflict. Not all of the bodies were recovered. Here, an attempt is made at suggesting something of the horror of a homicide. The hidden theme is 'culpability'. Somebody, somewhere knows the full story of this individual's last minutes. The executioner's gun is scarcely visible as if it were a prop of no consequence when juxtaposed to the will to kill that has already taken root in a man's heart. It may well have taken root in the victim's heart too but that scarcely mitigates the horror of the deed.
An interesting point about this painting is that the theme of chaos or madness represented by the shards of wood in the background is later taken up in the two paintings, "Caught Up" and "Let the Light Shine".
