Belfast, Northern Ireland. 1986
Most of the local shopping precincts, the heart of any community, were no longer used. Their owners, tired of the danger and intimidation, had long gone. With their windows boarded up and adorned with the local faction's graffiti, the mothers of the area therefore had to travel downtown to do their weekly shopping. (Paul Crispin)
