Local Government Election (NI)
19 May 1993

The following is a first draft (v1) of the results of the 1993 District Council (local government) elections held in Northern Ireland on 19 May 1993.

Introduction

The elections on 19 May 1993 were held to elect 582 councilors to the 26 District Councils of Northern Ireland. The voting in this election was by means of 'proportional representation'. The elections used the new boundaries which resulted from a review by the Local Government Boundaries Commissionioner during 1991 and 1992. In additional to some changes to the boundaries of wards there was an increase in the number of wards by 16 from 566 to 582.
