Victims of the Northern Ireland Conflict

This is a draft page on the issue of the victims of the conflict in Northern Ireland.

In November 1997 the Secretary of State commissioned Sir Kenneth Bloomfield to "... examine the feasibility of providing greater recognition for those who have become victims in the last thirty years as a consequence of events in Northern Ireland ...". Sir Kenneth's report 'We Will Remember Them' was published in May 1998 and its recommendations were accepted in full by the British Government. A Minister for Victims was appointed and in June 1998 the Victims Liaison Unit was established to take forward the Bloomfield recommendations. In June 2000, following devolution, the Victims Unit was established within the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM).

This page provides links to some of the reports that have been produced on the subject of victims. There are also links to other related information. Additional material will be included in the future.
