The Peter Heathwood Collection of Television Programmes

Introduction
The following is a list of television documentaries, current affairs programmes, and some major news stories about the Northern Ireland conflict and politics, that were broadcast between 1981 and 2005. The information contained in this list has been provided by Peter Heathwood. This list includes only documentaries that were devoted wholly to the Northern Ireland conflict and politics, and, in the case of magazine current affairs programmes, editions that were devoted primarily to the subject. It contains most of the major British and Irish documentaries about Northern Ireland networked between 1981 and 2005. However, it should be noted that the list is not exhaustive. (The list also includes some documentaries broadcast between 1969 and 1980 and some independent videos during the same period.)
Peter Heathwood
Peter Heathwood was shot and paralysed in a gun attack on his home in 1979. Since 1981 he has recorded daily television news items, and documentary programmes, about Northern Ireland for his own private use. The bulk of the items he has recorded are made up of the daily news reports covering violence, politics, and personalities. This news material is not yet catalogued. However, Peter Heathwood has produced a list of the documentary programmes in his collection and the CAIN web site is grateful to him for making the list available below.
Anyone requiring further information on the documentaries below, or on his main news collection, should contact Peter Heathwood by email at:
      peterheathwood@yahoo.co.uk
or by completing the email form on CAIN and marking the message for his attention.
