  Information on photograph displayed above
Title: Apprentice Boys of Derry - 'Lundy Parade' (No.0487)
Location: The Diamond, Derry, Northern Ireland.
Description: The photograph shows an effigy of Lundy prior to its burning. Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Lundy had been appointed as military governor of the city just pior to the siege in 1689. However the citizens of the city viewed Lundy as either incompetent or sympathetic to the besieging Jacobites. Hence his effigy is burned as a traitor each year. The large effigy, approximately 16 feet high, used to be burnt at the Governor Walker memorial on the city walls overlooking the Bogside, but in recent years has been burnt in the middle of Bishop Street Within.
