Draft List of Deaths Related to the Conflict in 2010

The following page has been compiled by Martin Melaugh to complement the Index of Deaths (1969-2001) by Malcolm Sutton. The information below is in draft form and should be treated with some caution. Some of the deaths listed below may be shown latter to be unrelated to the conflict.

24 February 2010 Kieran Doherty (31)
Status: Real Irish Republican Army (RIRA), Killed by: Real Irish Republican Army (RIRA)
Found shot dead on Braehead Road, outskirts of Derry. [The victim was almost naked, his hands were bound behind his back, he had been shot in the head and his body left close to the border. These circumstances bear the hallmarks of an IRA killing of an alleged informer. However, the RIRA claimed he was shot because of alleged drug dealiing.]
Uncertain if conflict-related
28 May 2010 Bobby Moffett (43) Protestant
Status: ex-Ulster Volunteer Force (xUVF)? Killed by:Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF)
Shot dead on the Shankill Road, Belfast. [There was speculation in the media that this killiing was the result of a personal dispute between Moffett and a leading member of the UVF. On 15 September 2010 the IMC issued a special report which concluded that Moffett's killing had been sanctioned by the UVF.]
